Contracts Manager (Voids) shortlisted for Professional of the Year Award

Claire Singh, Contracts Manager (Voids) at Local Space, has been shortlisted as Professional of the Year at the Women in Housing Awards, organised by Inside Housing.

The Professional of the Year Award recognises professionals in the housing sector for their commitment to the housing sector, going above and beyond to drive performance and move the housing agenda forward.

Every home that is empty for any length of time means a family or individual has to spend longer on a local authority’s homeless register. This has a significant impact on people experiencing homelessness, social services and local authority budgets. Claire is responsible for speeding up the process of re-letting homes so that people experiencing homelessness can move into their Local Space home as quickly as possible. Her professionalism in managing the crucial issue of minimising empty homes significantly contributes to the sector and the community she serves.

We’re proud of the work that Claire does to ensure our homes are good-quality, safe and energy-efficient and how she values and interacts with contractors to get the job done. She has been at Local Space since 2011 and during this time, she has worked in a variety of customer-facing roles, gaining experience across the organisation to best serve our customers and sustain their tenancies with us.

Her manager, Akin Otitoju, Local Space’s Senior Contracts Manager says:

“Claire consistently meets targets and is always quick to volunteer herself for any task that might require her knowledge. She’s a team player and goes above and beyond to help her colleagues. She is very competent and works well with our contractors to repair and prepare homes for new customers.”

Carl Doogan, Head of Operations said:

“I’m proud of the impact that Claire is making for our customers. Claire is patient, willing to listen and has a thorough understanding of the issues and time constraints of re-letting a home. Her efforts ensure that homes are in a good condition, ready for new individuals and families to move in and make it their home.”

We want to extend our congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted for an award. The awards ceremony will take place on 23 June 2025, as part of Housing 2025, where the winners will be announced.
